The Toyota Camry might as well be named the Beige McBoreALot, or perhaps The Uninspiring Wonder, as that is how it usually gets panned by automotive enthusiast journalists.
But this one is different.
This one has...
*TWO DOORS*
And a *FAT ASS*
And *fake wood*
So what’s your opinion of the Solara? Honestly I would rock a manual V6 one, though for the money it would take to get that there are so many better options (miata, fiero, jaguar XJS with a manual SBC swap, etc.), but in a vacuum if I were given a 5-speed V6 Solara I wouldn’t complain. The automatic four banger though... tragically slow. It looks reasonably attractive, though.

My wife wants one because ... are you ready for this? ... one of the trim levels is her initials!
I’m ok with this.

Before I purchased the CV, i was leaning heavily on returning to a Midsize FWD platform. I had a customer that comes into my workplace now and then that had the early 90’s Camry Two door and I found myself liking it. Then another customer pulled up in one of these and then I fell in love with it. It’s bring and sporty looking all at the same time.
Co worker is a mechanic and told me they’re a pain in the ass to work on so I moved on.

I think they’re great looking cars. I’d love to find a 5-speed V6 and throw the TRD catalog at it (supercharger included!), but Lord knows where you would find either the car or the parts at this point.

They're actually pretty easy to work on. Just watch out for bad oxygen sensors.

Those 5-speed V6s are unicorns for sure, and they approach manual SC300 money. Guess which one I would rather?

I don’t mind the Solara. In fact, I think it looks pretty good in convertible form.

They haven’t made the S/C for years, and good luck finding a complete used one for less than $2k.
Trust me, I checked.
